This past Sunday was a large day in Kansas City.

The American Royal grill was going on. NASCAR was in city for a biggest competition of a year in Kansas, a Kansas City Chiefs were personification a San Francisco 49ers on TV and a dear Kansas City Royals were personification postseason ball during a K.

But it was an early morning and mid-day journey of apple cider, cider doughnuts and apple-picking that was on this chef’s mind.

I did a small investigate during a week and found an apple orchard in Kansas City, Kan., that sounded really interesting, so we really put Cider Hill Family Orchard on my journey menu for a day.

Apple Dumplings

4 internal apples

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

4 ounces butter

2 10-ounce cans crescent hurl dough

12 ounces of 7 Up
