Picnic on Third opens in SoMa

November 10, 2014 - Picnic Time

The twin behind Picnic on Third

Today is opening day for Picnic on Third, a new all-day choice for SoMa and South Park.

The latest cafeteria in that vicinity, it is a brainchild of Natalia Bushyager and Leigh Loper, dual immature cooks who met during Foreign Cinema several years ago.

At Picnic on Third, that is open weekdays from 7am to 7pm, they are crafting daily changing menus, accessible for takeout or eat-in. The turn is that there are mostly themes to a daily menu, such as today’s South Carolina (black eyed pea stew, $6; braised pig with Southern spices, $6). Each day also includes a “chef’s composition” that includes an snack and sides; for example, today’s $12 whole roasted duck with fingerling potato salad, stewed greens, and pickles.

The specials are posted a week during a time, and we can peruse a offerings here. On a drink side, beer and wine are accessible (the lists are brief though strong), and we can also take bottles to-go.

And it’s not a bad-looking place either:
