Roots Picnic song festival set for Penn’s Landing

The annual Roots Picnic, now a prominence of Philadelphia’s open amicable season, earnings to a Festival Pier during Penn’s Landing on Jun 3.
The acclaimed festival, that is about to applaud a tenth year, will underline an heterogeneous lineup that includes performances by Pharrell The Roots, Lil Wayne, Solange, 21 Savage and Kimbra.
“Ten years ago, this started as a concept, an idea, a review between me, Tarik [Black Thought], Ahmir [Questlove] and Rich [Nichols],” Shawn Gee, a Roots longtime manager and partner during Maverick Management, pronounced in a statement.
“It’s extraordinary that it has grown into such a valued square of a informative landscape of a hometown of Philadelphia,” he added. “We were sanctified to enhance a Picnic to to NYC final year, and a code will continue to grow and evolve, though Philly will always be a home, a hearth of a Roots Picnic.
“We are super vehement to move a packaged lineup to applaud a 10th anniversary, and as always there will be copiousness of surprises and special guests,” Gee said.
Others on a choice are Black Thought J Period Live Mixtape, featuring Fat Joe; Mobb Deep and Scott Storch; Thundercat; Virgil Abloh; Pete Rock; A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie; James Vincent McMorrow; NoName; Gilles Peterson featuring MC Earl Zinger; Khalid; Michael Kiwanuka; DJ Spinna; PNB Rock; Tunji Ige; Anthony Somebody; and DJ N.O.C.
The “legendary” Roots organisation comprises Black Thought, Questlove, Kamal Gray, F. Knuckles, Captain Kirk Douglas, Damon Bryson and James Poyser.
The four-time Grammy winners, described by Rolling Stone as “the greatest” live rope in hip-hop, offer as a residence rope on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
