No matter how many times people attend a annual St. Anthony Parish Picnic, a eventuality always seems to have a dash to it.

At this year’s picnic, hold Saturday and Sunday during a high school, attendees like Eileen Doedtman attested to a event’s charm. She estimates that her initial revisit to a cruise was about 40 years ago, though she doesn’t remember a year.

“I’ve been going to a picnics as many times as they’ve had them,” Doedtman said.

And what has kept her entrance all these years? Her answer is simple.

“Beer and hamburgers,” Doedtman said, laughing.

After a few moments of thought, she stretched on that.

“I like to socialize,” she said. “And we come to support a bishopric — it’s a good approach for a bishopric to lift money.”
